We want Tracesleuth to be usable by as many people as possible. This statement says what works today, what does not yet, and how to tell us.
This site
- Every page works by keyboard, with a visible focus ring and a link to skip to the content.
- Headings, landmarks and labels follow the page’s structure for screen readers.
- Text meets WCAG 2.2 AA contrast in both themes, Daylight and Midnight.
- The how-to-play carousels move only when you choose, except the one on the home page, which you can pause, and which holds still while you point at it or focus inside it. With reduced motion set on your device, nothing moves by itself.
- Pages reflow to a phone’s width without scrolling sideways, and text can be enlarged to 200%.
The game
What works:
- Menus, dialogs, panels, the How to play dial and its carousels by keyboard.
- Five themes, including high contrast and colour-blind safe, chosen in Settings › Display, with all text at WCAG AA or better.
- Larger text, and reduced motion that stops every animation that is not the lesson.
- Labels on the scene’s parts, and checks and results written as text, not only colour.
What does not work yet:
- Building inside the 3D scene by keyboard alone. The 2D teaching screens replacing it, domain by domain, are built for the keyboard.
- Some instruments, such as the clocks’ charts, have no text alternative for every point.
- The game needs a desktop or laptop browser; it does not fit a phone.
Tell us
If something stops you, write to us and say what you were doing, with which browser and assistive technology. We answer within two working days, and a fix that unblocks someone comes first.
We last checked this statement against WCAG 2.2 on the date at the top.
